Each year new courses are offered so that returning students have a unique set of offerings from which to choose. Students attending choose 2 of the 6 courses offered.
Travel with us to the seven continents and play some of the world’s most popular youth
games. In Africa you can jump right into a game of mbube mbube, ubuthi, or mamba. When you visit the Arctic, you will be ready to play a game of moose skin drag or even makpigamimait. Stop in Australia to lead in a game koolche or parndo and in Asia be ready for the favorite badminton. While you are in Europe, show off your skills at bocce ball, South American soccer, or the true North American pastime of football. Join us as we get fit and cultured all while having a great time!
What do kids do in the north? In this class we will focus on two sports/games that are
extremely popular in the northern part of the United States but aren’t widely played here: hockey and lacrosse. This class will provide students with the opportunity to learn and apply basic skills in both sports. Our goal is to learn something new each day and finish the class with a better sense of hockey and lacrosse and have the ability to play with confidence.
Do you want to be the Ultimate? This class will be set up similar to an NFL Rookie
combine. We will keep track of our stats as we challenge ourselves with speed, coordination and agility. Some events like pushups, pull-ups, and sit-ups will develop strength. Some events like home run derby and basketball shooting contests will improve hand-eye coordination. Each participant in class will receive point values for scores at each event and improvement overall and at the end of the three weeks one male and one female participant will be crowned the Challenge & Champions Ultimate Fitness Champion.
Do you and your friends want to go outside and play but there is no 10 foot basketball
goal, 100 yards of football or soccer field around, or any of the balls? Well, after Challenge & Champions you can host your very own Olympic Games in your
subdivision without owning any of these pieces of equipment or needing all the land space. We will engage in athletic events that are simple to play with equipment that you have lying around or have easy access to. In this class we will learn how to play simple, but extremely fun games in small areas with little to no budget. Your friends will think that you are the most resourceful person they know when you come up with so many fun games for you to play.
There is more than one way to play the game of football. This class will allow you to learn and play two different styles of Football games.... both American rules and Rugby rules. We will participate in American Football (non-contact/flag) as well as the popular international game of Rugby Football (non-contact/flag). Come and have fun and be able to teach your friends more about football when you know how the rest of the word plays it.
Be a Champion at Recess! After this class, when you go back to school in the fall you’ll be ready for kickball, dodge ball, ultimate frisbee, capture the flag, and many more fun games. In this class you will be divided into teams that compete against one another with the goal of having fun as the priority. We will teach you all you need to know to be a recess champion!
