Brenda Singletary

Artist in Residence and Public Outreach Liaison

Nationally known, Brenda Singletary, a professional artist for over 20 years, is noted for her versatility. Her original pieces done in oil, enamel, acrylic, gold leaf and pastels range from figurative, abstract to floral, and include landscapes. Brenda Singletary is an alumnus of Morris Brown College in Atlanta. She worked for several years in television broadcasting before deciding on an art career. Her work is represented in art galleries across the country as well as in corporations such as IBM, The Coca Cola Company, Kaiser Permanente, Bellsouth, Wachovia, Marriott Hotels, Delta Airlines, 20th Century Fox Television and many others.

Brenda is a community service artist. Her Atlanta television broadcast experience coupled with an artistic dedication has created a unique art career that is centered on projects that help and support community non-profits including raising funds for numerous organizations. She has worked personally with numerous young artists and local students encouraging and teaching them how to express themselves creatively. She has also worked with students and adults with disabilities. Ms. Singletary regularly speaks to community groups about the importance of the arts in local communities.

Brenda served for 2 years as a panel judge for The President’s Commission on White House Fellows and created a piece that was publicly presented to The White House. Her art currently hangs in the conference room of The White House Fellows Administrative Office and is a part of the permanent art collection of The White House. Ms. Singletary also has her art hanging in the Georgia State Capitol.

In 2001, Brenda was invited by The White House as a guest speaker at a luncheon hosted by the President’s Commission on White House Fellows to speak about current events and express her individual views on life as an African American artist. She currently resides in Decatur, Georgia.

As the Artist in Residence, Brenda will be offering art classes daily during the program. She will support the leadership and growth of Challenge & Champions through her efforts as the public outreach liaison.
